Skin, hair, and nails
Services
Dr. Flaten treats common and complex conditions of the skin, hair, and nails. She also offers integrative consultations and several cosmetic treatments. Before recommending a plan, she considers the diagnosis and what matters to each patient.
Diagnosis and treatment
Medical dermatology
A changing spot, a rash that keeps returning, acne that no longer responds to treatment, or unexplained hair loss all deserve a careful diagnosis. Dr. Flaten treats a broad range of skin, hair, and nail conditions, with a particular interest in skin cancer screening and surveillance. Diet, stress, and daily life
Integrative dermatology
Diet can affect some skin conditions, but it is rarely the whole story. Supplements can also cause side effects or interact with medications. Dr. Flaten asks about nutrition, stress, sleep, and other health conditions when they are relevant. With certification in Integrative Dermatology, she considers those questions alongside established medical treatment. She explains when the evidence is useful, when it is weak, and when an approach is unlikely to help.
If you already see an acupuncturist, naturopath, or nutritionist, bring their recommendations so Dr. Flaten can review the full treatment plan for safety.
Cosmetic treatments
Cosmetic dermatology
The right cosmetic plan starts with a candid conversation about what bothers you and what treatment can reasonably change. Dr. Flaten offers Botox, dermal filler, Fraxel laser, SkinPen microneedling, and chemical peels. Before treatment, she discusses the expected result, risks, downtime, and cost. Sometimes the right answer is to leave things alone.
